Seeing the Light

Right now, my two-year-old son has a slight obsession with flags, particularly, American flags (probably because they’re easy to spot). Any time he sees one, he exclaims proudly, “FLAG!” He even points them out when we’re in the car. I was surprised at how many American flags he spotted, so one day I counted his exclamations.

In a typical twenty-minute drive with residential and freeway driving, do you know how many American flags he saw??? Twenty-one!

Isn’t it amazing how many wonderful things you can see when you’re looking for them? On the flip side, isn’t it amazing how many awful things you can see when you’re looking for them?

Even on this cloudy day, there is still light. I choose to see the Light.

“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” Matthew 6:22-23 (ESV)
