Life Will Be Hard

This morning I took my son to a play group. It was our first time there so my expectations were reasonable—we’ll be there 30-45 minutes, tops. He has difficulty with new environments that are crowded with people.

At one point, I had to take him outside the room to calm him down. Another mom, who I’m assuming has a child facing similar challenges, was out there and said to me, “It doesn’t get any easier.”

At first I thought, “Ouch! That’s not very encouraging.” But then I realized, she’s right. Parenting doesn’t get any easier (with any child). I appreciated her honesty.

On the way home, I kept thinking about what she said. It really stuck with me, but not in the way she intended. God was telling me that this life I’m choosing to live for Him won’t get any easier. It’s not like you become Christian and then everything is just handed to you. In fact, the enemy will be coming after you even harder than before, because now, you’re a greater threat to him.

This would all be discouraging if this was the end of the story. But fortunately, it’s not!

Things will get harder, but once you’ve chosen to partner up with Christ, you’ll be able to tackle anything. The Holy Spirit is inside of you, and He’ll give you the strength to face anything. When you’ve reached your max, God is only getting started. Just watch what He can do through you when you call on Him! Trust me—you’ll surprise yourself 🙂

I’ve faced so many battles where the only explanation for my victory is God. And I know I’m not the only who can say that!

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16
