Why do we sometimes struggle with asking God for help? Any why the struggle when it’s something we know He wants for us? Could be lots of reasons, but the Lord made me realize today that (for me) the reason is fear—fear of what will happen if it comes true!
If you truly have faith that God answers prayers, then you know it will happen: “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7. And this scares us. “What will happen next?”
If you’re afraid of what God wants to give you, then you don’t trust Him! It’s “selective” faith: “I am faithful God will answer my prayer, but I’m not faithful it will turn out well.”
Why no trust? Fear (again). Maybe you’ve been hurt before, and you’re afraid it will happen again. And what if it does? Do you still believe that God will bless you and provide for you in that instance?
There’s no way to know what will happen once God answers your prayer. But you have to trust that He loves you more than you can understand, and wants the best possible life for you. And He knows EXACTLY how to get it for you. All you have to do is trust, ask, listen, and do!
